California Climbing School would like to say thank you to veterans by offering guided rock climbing and hiking in breathtaking Joshua Tree National Park!

All abilities are welcome.  Whether you’re coming for adventure or healing or just looking for a good time on the rocks, this could be the perfect experience. Includes a sack lunch.


Dates:  Saturday, October 5th and Veterans Day Monday, November 11th  

Time: 8:00am-1:00pm

Where:  Joshua Tree National Park

Regular rate:  $125 each

Special offer: $60 each.  Each veteran may bring one friend or family member who will also receive the discount. Discount ends 11/12/24  Minimum 5 participants.

Rock climbing will be at a basic level.  No experience necessary.   Learn the figure 8 knot, safety check, verbal commands, climbing technique, lowering technique, and rappelling.

The hike will focus on the human and natural history of Joshua Tree National Park.  Areas of special interest include weird desert plants, cool geology, unique wildlife, Native American and Pioneer history.  The difficulty of the hike is variable, depending on the abilities of the participants.

All of our climbing guides have an SPI or SPG min certification, plus first aid/cpr.

About Us:  California Climbing School operates under a commercial use permit with Joshua Tree National Park.   We are a mom and pop business run by husband/wife team Erik Kramer Webb and Theresa Walsh, plus 4 guides who work October through April.  Erik and Theresa have both been teaching climbing and mountaineering since the 1990’s and were instructors for NOLS and Outward Bound.
