Joshua Tree is famous among climbers from all around the world. It is considered a “must go” area for any serious climber, and in contrast it is the perfect place for beginners to learn as well. The surreal landscapes of giant boulders and Joshua Trees certainly will boggle the senses.
Hiring a climbing guide at Joshua Tree is a great way to improve your technique. Joshua Tree climbs are tremendous because they require such a broad base of movement skills. Improve your smearing, edging, smedging, jamming, lay-backing, or chimneying while sampling some of Joshua Tree’s excellent routes.
If you are a little more experienced, try a 2-3 pitch trad climb on Turtle Rock, Intersection Rock, Echo Rock, The Sentinel, or Lost Horse Wall. Your guide will lead the pitches and you will follow and remove the protection. This is a perfect introduction to multi-pitch climbing and will certainly provide some special views!
The environment is extremely fragile in Joshua Tree National Park, and therefore we incorporate Leave No Trace ethics into everything we do. We advocate for this threatened global treasure because we have a duty to preserve it for generations to come.
